As the School of Theology community prepares to return to the newly renovated Hamilton Hall in Advent Term 2024,

we recognize more than ever the impact of this place and the value of residential theological education and spiritual formation in community. We need the support of our alumni and friends to build upon Sewanee's strong foundation and to help us create a legacy for generations of church leaders to come.

Hamilton Hall Study Carrels

The new, dedicated seminarian study space in Hamilton Hall will have 45 beautiful wooden study carrels designed and crafted by Thos. Moser each with a chair featuring the St. Luke's shield engraved in the chair's back. This space will provide students a quiet and comfortable place to read and write without having to leave Hamilton Hall. Each carrell and chair is $6,000 and will include a plaque recognizing the donor.

These carrels are a great opportunity for classes, families, parishes, dioceses, and individuals to make a lasting gift to the School of Theology which will be used by seminarians for decades to come. Consider a gift in honor or memory of a beloved mentor, colleague, professor, or in thanksgiving for ordination anniversaries, years of service, and more.

Cornerstone Scholarships

Cornerstone Scholarships offer a unique opportunity for donors to support a seminarian during their 3-year Master of Divinity studies. A 3-year commitment of $5,000 per year is a significant gift to offset expenses incurred by seminarians during their time in Sewanee, and donors are connected with the seminarian receiving their scholarship, fostering connections across the church that we hope will last beyond seminary and into everyday ministry.

Cornerstones are a great way for graduating classes to reconnect and support their Alma Mater or for a parish, family, individual or some other group to come together in support of theological education and know that they are directly supporting a future church leader's formation and training for ministry.
