The Pastoral Care Committee is actively engaged in both traditional and innovative methods for addressing the pastoral needs of the entire seminary community.

The Pastoral Care Committee supports the life of the seminary through a multi-leveled approach that is holistic by addressing the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of the community. This committee unites the community through common prayer requests of students, faculty, and staff that brings awareness of the concerns of the community while offering emotional support.

This committee recognizes the connection between physical wellbeing and spiritual health and encourages student-led initiatives that attend to the overall health of the entire seminary community. The Pastoral Care Committee is actively engaged in both traditional and innovative methods for addressing the pastoral needs of the entire seminary community.

SEMINARY COMMUNITY PRAYER LIST

The Pastoral Care Committee distributes a prayer list to the Seminary Community. Anyone in the community may email the names and concerns of those needing prayers, and the list is updated and mailed out each Sunday evening.  The names of those on the community prayer list are included in our Morning Prayer service each day.

CARDS

The Pastoral Care Committee has a ministry of writing notes to seminarians and families as important events happen.  The Committee also offers blank cards for the community to write notes to one another.  This simple ministry provides another opportunity for the community to show care, provide encouragement to one another, and to acknowledge celebrations such as birthdays, anniversaries, ordinations.

COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING POT-LUCK

Pastoral Care sponsors a community Thanksgiving dinner each year for those families who stay on the mountain.  The committee provides the turkey and gravy in Hamilton Hall Refectory.  All attending are encouraged to bring their traditional favorite dishes to share with the seminary.

FINAL EXAM DE-STRESSORS

Final Exam time can be hard, especially for those in their first year.  Pastoral care sponsors breakfasts on the first day of final exams to help shake some nerves one feels going into a final test.  The time together after chapel is a time for students, faculty, and staff to come together to share in the waning days of the semester.
