Seek and serve Christ in all persons.
This committee plans, coordinates, and executes service events through which members of the seminary community can witness to and live out their call to proclaim the Good News and to share their resources of time, money, and talent with persons in need. Projects are in response to local, national, and international communities. Some of our work includes:
CHRISTMAS ON THE MOUNTAIN
The School of Theology collects donations and toys for underprivileged children on the Cumberland Plateau.
KIVA LOANS
Working with Kiva.org, the committee lends money to women entrepreneurs in Africa and Asia.
TASTE OF AFRICA
Each year the committee sponsors a lunch consisting of African food. Donations go to seminaries in Africa to purchase books and bicycles for seminary students.
GOOD SAMARITAN MINISTRIES, COMMUNITY ACTION COALITION
Collections of food are given to local food pantries in the spring and seminarians volunteer to sort and distribute the food.
TUTU DESKS
Raising awareness around global educational needs, the committee collects donations and purchases Tutu desks for schools in Africa.
