The School of Theology has decided to conduct the Advanced Degrees Program online for this session only. Should you decide to take this summer away from the program, or to take a reduced load, then you will be given an extra year to complete your degree.
After careful consideration, support, and collaboration with the University of the South and the Invite Welcome Connect Advisory Board, the difficult and responsible decision has been made to cancel the in-person Invite Welcome Connect Summit scheduled for June 10–12, 2020. As a result of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, we will host an Invite Welcome Connect Digital Gathering instead.
Executive Director Karen Meridith is suspending in-person EfM mentor training events scheduled from June 1 through July 31 in Sewanee and Episcopal dioceses in the United States. The decision is in keeping with medical recommendations that social distancing is necessary to contain the spread of COVID-19, as well as announcements from bishops directing that in-person meetings, including church services, be cancelled in their dioceses. We will continue to monitor the situation over the next month in order to decide whether to cancel training events scheduled beyond July 31. For more details, click here.
Because the coronavirus has yet to peak in Tennessee and in many parts of the United States, the University of the South has made the difficult decision to cancel, or move online, all summer programs this year. Sadly, that includes the cancelation of the 2020 SUMMA Theological Debate Camp. We understand that this will be a disappointment to many who have planned to spend a part of the summer in Sewanee, but we believe this is the only responsible course of action in these uncertain times.
