Eco-Chaplaincy

Eco-chaplaincy is a growing interfaith movement that seeks to provide environmentally-oriented spiritual care for people in a variety of contexts. While there are a range of perspectives on what constitutes eco-chaplaincy, they share a recognition that caring for human beings in the current anthropocene epoch means attending to their connections with the more-than-human world.

The Center for Religion and Environment is an ideal place to explore this emerging movement. Some students in our degree programs have chosen to focus their studies on eco-chaplaincy. In the coming year, CRE will offer more resources to contribute to this growing conversation.
