The School of Theology has launched a new monthly webinar series, “Thriving in Ministry,” focused on the practice of ministry and funded by a generous grant from the Lilly Endowment, Inc.
The first in a five-part series, “Preaching Year B,” begins on Tuesday, Nov. 17, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. CST. Teresa Fry Brown, Bandy Distinguished Professor of Preaching at the Candler School of Theology will join William Brosend, professor of New Testament at the School of Theology, in a discussion of the texts, themes, challenges, and opportunities of preaching in Advent and Christmas in this season of our national life. The discussion will be followed by a Q & A. In the coming months Brown and Brosend will be joined by guest preachers and teachers as they explore preaching in Epiphany, Lent and Holy Week, Easter, and Pentecost. Details may be found in the section "Preaching Year B."
In 2021 the series will expand to feature webinars on scripture, theology, pastoral care, spirituality, ethics, preaching, and other topics. Speakers include Greg Ellison, Paula Fredriksen, Walter Fluker, Wil Gafney, Frank Griswold, Amy-Jill Levine, Tom Long, Donyelle McCray, Kathryn Tanner, and others. The series will be moderated by William Brosend.
