Chapel of the Apostles

The worship of God is the primary focus for life at Sewanee. The deep rhythm of daily Morning and Evening Prayer and the life of God flowing out of the Eucharist give shape and purpose to the community. The seminary’s Chapel of the Apostles provides the daily setting for services and a transcendent space for forming clergy.

Student Participation

From Monday to Friday, The School of Theology offers daily the Anglican liturgical round, Morning Prayer, the Eucharist, and Evening Prayer. All members of the community are encouraged to participate in all services as a matter of personal formation and discipline and as a means of support for other members of the community. Students fill particular roles as officiants in the Daily Office, readers, servers, and preachers at Morning Prayer, and participate in the planning of the Thursday Eucharist. The customary usage for the Chapel of the Apostles has details about each service.
