The School of Theology. Sewanee: The University of the South

Worship

As the centerpiece of the community, worship unites students with local residents and creates a focus for life at Sewanee. The deep rhythm of daily Morning and Evening Prayer and the life of God flowing out of the Eucharist give shape and purpose to the community.  The seminary’s Chapel of the Apostles provides the daily setting for services and a transcendent space for forming clergy.

Here, you can gain experience planning, conducting services, and preaching in the Episcopal, Methodist, and Lutheran traditions. Those wishing to practice their vocations in Spanish-speaking communities have weekly opportunities to conduct services in Spanish as well.

Central to the University’s campus, historic All Saints’ Chapel provides yet another example of Episcopal liturgical practice, with a festal Eucharist accompanied by a pipe organ and the 60-voice University choir.

Places of Worship

There are an abundance of places to worship on the Mountain from the serene and spiritual Perimeter Trail to the cathedral-like All Saints' Chapel.
