The School of Theology is the graduate program of the University of the South, sharing the 10,000-acre campus of rolling woodlands with more than 1,450 undergraduate students. The School of Theology is an intentionally small community about 90 students in residence and 16 faculty and 15 adjunct. Students come to Sewanee to be part of an intimate, Christian community in a setting of incredible beauty, that educates and forms them to lead worshipping communities and be missionaries to the modern world. Each year provides unique opportunities, beyond academics and scheduled worship, to define that experience. One of the outstanding features of Sewanee is the community which, year after year, nurtures, challenges, welcomes and supports those who flow in and out of its midst. The seminary community offers an exciting array of activities and organizations to incorporate seminarians, spouses and families. Retreats, quiet days, community Eucharists, dinners and lunches, parties and special interest organizations provide opportunities for fellowship, recreation and spiritual and intellectual growth.
The town of Sewanee, about 3,000 people, provides the amenities of a small town, such as two gourmet coffee shops, hair salons, gift shops, Barnes and Noble bookstore, and two public parks, while nearby Chattanooga and Nashville offer large urban opportunities.
The University's crowded calendar of performing arts programs, film series, and gallery exhibits feature frequent cultural opportunities while the beautiful surroundings beckon students to hours of biking, hiking, camping, canoeing, caving or rock climbing.
All University facilities are available to School of Theology students and families, including a nine hole golf course, state-of -the-art Fowler Health and Fitness Center, tennis courts and equestrian center. The Tennessee Williams Theater Center offers unique theater for all.

Housing
University Housing - The seminary offers students with families a range of comfortable University-owned homes throughout the mountain. Single students are not required to live in dormitories but may live in their own apartments, duplexes, or houses, often finding their neighbors new junior faculty members at the college. All university housing is in walking distance of the school. Some students purchase homes on campus or in the area.
