Position in Homiletics

The School of Theology of the University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee, invites applications for a full-time position in Homiletics to begin by Aug. 1, 2018.

Responsibilities will include teaching students at the master’s and doctoral levels the skills to be faithful biblical preachers in the Anglican tradition, especially within the liturgical context of the Book of Common Prayer (1979).

The strongest candidate will hold a Ph.D., Th.D., or equivalent in homiletics or a relevant field; be ordained in The Episcopal Church, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, or a denomination that practices preaching in a liturgical context; and demonstrate skill in the interpretation of both biblical testaments and in teaching the preparation, delivery, and evaluation of sermons. The ability to teach in a secondary field, such as biblical studies or Christian education, is highly desirable. Applicants who are A.B.D. are welcome to apply.

This appointment is a tenure-track position. Salary, rank, and terms of appointment will depend on qualifications and experience.
