The SUMMA Student Theological Debate Society, a program of the School of Theology’s Beecken Center, is hosting its sixth camp on the campus of the University of the South. The eight-day camp welcomes high school students each year and teaches the art of debate while speaking the truth in love. The Very Rev. Dr. Christoph Keller III is the founder of SUMMA and dean of Trinity Cathedral in Little Rock, Arkansas.
In attendance are 45 students from 14 states, Washington, D.C., and China. Three of the campers are attending for their second year, six are attending for their third year, and one is a four-year attendee. Brad Barber, from Banner Elk, North Carolina, is the second SUMMA camper to attend for four years.
The resolution that this year's campers will debate is: "Civil disobedience is morally justified."
