Martin Smith on Spirituality and Mission
Martin Smith will give a public lecture, “Getting it Together: Our Role in the Remarriage of Spirituality and Mission,” on June 15 at 7 p.m. in Hargrove Auditorium. Smith will offer reflections based on a lifetime exploring the language and grammar of spiritual formation, and struggling with the conventional split between ‘spirituality’ and the prophetic imperatives of mission. In this lecture he will propose that, after decades restoring the Eucharistic life of the Church, we face the overdue task of reforging a specifically Baptismal, Trinitarian spirituality of immersion and depth that recruits us for co-creative mission under the authority of God’s future.
The lecture will take place in HamiltonHall's Hargrove Auditorium. There will be a book sale and signing and a reception immediately following the lecture.
This lecture was made possible by the Arrington Lecture Fund.
