Prejudice, Legislation, and the Church’s Moral Voice

Hargrove Auditorium, Room 226,

In June of 2011 the Hammon-Beason Alabama Taxpayer and Citizen Protection Act was signed into law. Recognizing this as the nation’s strictest anti-illegal immigration law, the bishop of the Episcopal Church in the diocese of Alabama chose to join with other church leaders to file a lawsuit against Governor Bentley. William Blackerby, C’09, faith in community organizer at Greater Birmingham Ministries, will be speaking about this process in his lecture “Prejudice, Legislation, and the Church’s Moral Voice.”

The lecture is open to all and sponsored by The Committee for Diversity and Reconciliation.
