Dr. Clara Luz Ajo Lázaro, assistant dean and professor of systematic theology and feminist theology at the Seminario Evangélico de Teología (SET), in Matanzas, Cuba, will be visiting Sewanee June 16–20. Ajo received her master of theology degree from SET and her doctorate in the science of religion from the Universidad Metodista de Sao Paulo, Brazil. She has had several books and articles published, many of them centered on feminist theology and the study of Santeria in Cuba.
This will be Ajo’s first visit to Sewanee and another important step in establishing ties between The School of Theology and SET. During her stay, Ajo will be meeting with the administration and faculty of The School of Theology and with Karen Meridith, director of EfM, regarding The Episcopal Church of Cuba as a test site for EfM’s new Spanish program.
Ajo will be available for informal conversations over lunch in The School of Theology’s refectory at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, Wednesday, June 17, and Thursday, June 18. Should anyone be interested in meeting Ajo separately, please contact John Solomon, 931.598.1490, firstname.lastname@example.org) at The School of Theology.
